Walter Zeisl, At-Large
Walter Zeisl, Manager of Education Outreach at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, oversees an award-winning program that includes presentations in-class and virtually as well as lesson materials in print and in digital editions covering a variety of environmental topics such as water and energy conservation, renewable energy, local supply sources, and climate change.
He has served on the CEEF Board including previous related organizations since the 1980s. LADWP has also sponsored five CEEF Environmental Teacher Institute programs for Los Angeles area teachers. He also arranged to host and sponsor the first two years of the CEEF-originated Water, Energy, and Education Alliance (WEEA) Southern California coalition focusing on school-to-work pathways for skilled craft and other utility careers. LADWP also partners on education programs with local companies and environmental organizations such as the Los Angeles Times, Hitachi, The Wildwoods Foundation, and Theatre of Will.
Walter has headed Education Outreach at LADWP since 1987 after beginning his career at the city-owned utility in 1977. Walter holds an MS degree in Public Relations Administration from Syracuse University’s SI Newhouse School of Public Communications and a BA degree in Political Science from UCLA.
