Bill Andrews, CEO
Bill is a retired science and environmental education (EE) consultant having worked for 19 years in the California Department of Education (CDE) and 11 years as a high school biology and mathematics teacher. While at CDE he founded CEEF in 2003, and joined the CEEF Board in 2005. From 2007 to June 2015 he volunteered as part-time Executive Director.
In 2011, 2013, and 2015 Bill directed CEEF’s teacher institute on “Best Practices of Environmental Education and Stewardship.” At the state level, Bill provided leadership on the development of California’s Blueprint for Environmental Literacy (BEL) and served on the State Superintendent’s BEL Task Force from 2013 through 2015. Bill was honored by the Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education with the Howard Bell Award in 2015. In 2018, Bill founded the Water, Energy, and Education Alliance (WEEA) and he now serves on the WEEA advisory committee.
Bill is also currently volunteering on the Ten Strands Advisory Board to help advance statewide environmental literacy. For enjoyment, Bill sings with an acapella choral group, plays with his grandchildren, and now serves as the Chief Executive Officer to the CEEF Board.
